STEM Economic and Business Innovation Center

Jeffrey E. Walker, Founder and CEO

Be a Ripple That Becomes a Wave Moving Society's Ideas!

Jeffrey E. Walker, Founder and CEO

The foundation will aid those living in all communities around the world using STEM Entrepreneurship methods.

Each community should be able to develop young people with their own Creativity, Imagination, Ingenuity, Vision, Drive, and Perseverance to create their own Silicon Valley.

The STEM Economic and Business Innovation Center was inspired by some of the principles of my great, great, great-grandfather, Free Frank, a Pioneer Entrepreneur who set up a saltpeter works in Pulaski County, Kentucky. Saltpeter is the principal ingredient in gunpowder and was in demand before and during the War of 1812, in the United States. Crude niter, the principal natural resource used in making saltpeter, was also available in large quantities in numerous caves in central and western Pulaski, was another natural resource available for mining.

Free Frank was the first African-American to found a town in the United States in 1836 before the Civil War. The town of New Philadelphia was located in the western frontier of Illinois in the Land of Lincoln. Free Frank was born a slave in 1777, a year after the start of the Revolutionary War.

Over a period of forty years, he purchased sixteen family members including himself and his wife, Lucy from slavery, at a total cost of some $15,000 that he earned as a Pioneer Entrepreneur including other notable achievements in the course of his life before he died in 1854 in the town he founded.
